An Unfortunate Event.

Sadly, my blog will have to be updated much more infrequently with my works-in-progress. Our scanner is broken and I'm not sure when we'll be able to afford a new one. Luckily, I can still use the ones at AIB but I can't make that a weekly thing. Pearle Vision has a scanner too, but the quality is pretty dismal:

I put together an ad design for Boston Eye Associates, the optometrists' office I work for in addition to Pearle. It's for a local Polish newspaper, advertising our Polish-speaking doctor in hopes to expand our business to new patients. The design is pretty..."limited," to put it nicely...but given the tools I had available (Microsoft Word, a #2 pencil a ball-point pen) I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. I can't complain when I get the opportunity to draw rather than sell at work. For those curious to learn a bit of Polish, it says:

Boston Eye Associates
eye clinic
routine eye exams ~ contact lenses ~ wide selection of frames with discounts
Dr. Ewa [pronounced "Eva"] Mamber
Optometrist since 1985
Speaks Polish
We welcome new patients!
etc, etc...(obok means "next to" since legally we can't say that it's Pearle Vision, unless it's a Pearle sanctioned ad)

That's all for now. You probably won't hear from me until I have some images to show, since it's clear by the lack of comments that nobody's interested in me blabbing without pretty pictures. It would be great, though, if the wonderful illustrators who read this could give me some input in the comments about what type of scanner you recommend (or even what you don't recommend).

Until...sometime! Have a great week, everyone!

  1. oh no! sorry to hear about your scanner issues. how did it break?

in terms of getting a new one, i've had an hp which my parents bought me after i asked for an epson and i've hated it from the moment i took it out of the box.

the software is stupid, and it only scans half the time.

    epson all the way.
