MeCAF Recap!

My first Maine Comics Arts Fest was a blast! I'd never even been to Maine before, so it was an all-around brand-new adventure for me. The night before the con, Matt and I spent some time putzing around Portland, later meeting up with Bob Flynn and some other exhibitors at Shipyard Brewery.

More importantly, we got coconut-almond-chocolate-chip ice cream!

The next morning, we got up bright and early for MeCAF! Rick of Casablanca Comics and the organizer of the event is a total peach and rearranged the table assignments so we could sit near Bob and the Boston Comics Roundtable.

MeCAF in full swing!

Our neighbors, with their Heeby Jeebys!

To entice potential buyers, I offered free watercolor portraits with any purchase. It was a lot of work, but a total blast! (And a great exercise.) I can't believe what patient models these kids were. I brain-farted again and didn't take photos of everyone, so if you got a portrait from me and I didn't get your snapshot, send me a pic and I'll put you on the blog!

Hard at work, paintin' portraits.

Little lady detective!

I will absolutely be back next year if MeCAF will have me. Thanks to everybody who made it an awesome experience!

  1. That is awesome! So glad you had a fun time. The portraits are so great. I want to get you to do one of my kid, Lucien. how much for post conference?

  2. Ellen--it was GREAT meeting and trading artworks with you! (Hmmm...I think I got the better deal!) Those FREE watercolor portraits you did of the fans are great, but now EVERYONE will want them!! (I don't blame them--I want one! (We'll have to talk...)

  3. What cool portraits! Every person is encapsulated in a tiny painting! Rock on!

  4. great portraits. i want mine done.

  5. That is so cool! WAY better than those caricatures you have done at the fair. How long did it take to do one if I may ask?

  6. Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments! In answer to the couple questions...

Casey - Shoot me an email, I'd love to do Lucien!
Chelsey - Thank you! They probably took me about 10-15 minutes each.
